6 Questions Proactive Businesses Ask Their IT Provider Quarterly

The clients who get the most out of an IT partnership are the ones who treat it as a standing conversation rather than a number they call when something breaks. These are the six questions worth asking every quarter.

  1. What failed or nearly failed since we last spoke? Near-misses are the cheapest lessons available.
  2. What is going out of support in the next twelve months? Hardware and software both. Surprises here are always expensive.
  3. When did we last test a restore? Not whether backups ran. Whether a restore was actually completed.
  4. Who has access that should not? Leavers, old contractors, service accounts, shared logins.
  5. What are we spending, and on what? Licence counts drift. So do subscriptions nobody uses.
  6. What would you fix first if it were your business? The most useful question on the list.

If your provider cannot answer these without going away to check, that is itself an answer.
